Types of motion; oscillatory motion. Simple Haronic motion - definition and examples. Equation of motion. Characteristic amplitude, frequency, displacement phase.

Characteristics of wave motion. Classification of waves; transverse, longitudinal, progressive or travelling, stationary; reflection and refraction, interference and differactions. Superposition.
Equation or wavemotion, speed, wavelength, frequency, phase. Energy transfer by wave.

Mechanical wave, electromagnetic waves Sound, sources of sound, measurement of speed of sound. Interference of sound. Echoes. Vibration of strings and air columns. Resonance. The Dippler Effect. Music and Instruments.

Assessment is by assignments and examination.
